Igbo Traders Back Sanwo-Olu’s Second Term Bid

Igbo traders in Lagos State have passed a vote of confidence on the leadership of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, endorsing his second term bid.

The traders, under the Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association, said they unanimously support the governor’s re-election in appreciation of the state government’s business policies and infrastructure development, which support their trades.

The governor got the endorsement at the 2022 All Markets Conference organised by the association in Amuwo Odofin area of the state.

Secretary General of Ndigboamaka Traders’ Association, Chinedu Ukatu, in an address to the governor, said: “Mr. Governor, you have not formally told us whether you are seeking re-election or not, but I want to tell you that all the market leaders seated here today are yearning for a second term for you.

“Anytime you walk, we will walk with you. I have been directed by all market leaders under the auspices of Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association in all the 58 dealer markets, to tell you that we have endorsed you for second term to show appreciation for your friendly policy and infrastructure projects initiated to help our businesses.”

Sanwo-Olu described the endorsement as a mark of general acceptance of his administration’s efforts to deliver ‘Greater Lagos’ and strengthen the culture of good governance for which the state is reputed.

The support, he said, comes with an assurance of more development programmes to be expected from his administration.

He said he wont take Ndigbo’s support for granted and reassured them of the state government’s continued collaboration to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.

He said Igbo traders remained prominent players in the economic growth of the State, noting that Lagos’ development narrative would not be complete without the mention of entrepreneurial spirit of the Igbo.

He added: “This is another moment for our government to recognise our Ndigbo brothers and sisters for their commitment to the growth and development of Lagos. Certainly, Ndigbo traders have been part of the good story of Lagos; your entrepreneurial spirit is second to none and the Igbo enterprising spirit has become a case study in Harvard, which is the biggest business school in the world.

“Contribution to the livelihood of your host communities have been acknowledged and in Lagos, we have created together an economy that has continued to grow and position our nation as the biggest economy in Africa. Trading is a veritable link between producers and consumers, which is the area the Ndigbo traders have tirelessly worked to define the growth trajectory of our dear State. I’m happy that our modest interventions for more growth in this area are visible and being recognised.”

Pledging that his administration would continue to protect the business interests of the Igbo people, Sanwo-Olu promised to make the state habitable for non-indigenes that abide by the laws of the state.

He said his administration would continue to seek peaceful co-existence among all ethnic nationalities cohabiting in Lagos, stressing that the ethnic groups must see themselves as different sides of a coin that shouldn’t have anything against one another.

He said: “We have to come to the understanding that we all have different roles to play in keeping Lagos safe for business and living. We are all important stakeholders in Lagos project, whether it is Government, traders and private sector individual. We must continue to foster peace and harmony through an avenue like this conference, using the interaction to make Lagos better for everyone of us.”

Chief Onyewuchi Asinobi, Chairman of the abrogation ceremony,  in a statement issues in Abuja, described the caste as  an “ancient traditional religious practice anchored on evil altars and shrines controlled by principalities and powers, and by the rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness in high places”.
He  some  top clergies will on August 28, 2021 lead the seven concerned Mbieri communities on community and family liberation prayers and service to be held at Afor Nnudo Market Square, Umuagwu, Mbieri to end the dedications, covenants, sacrifices, idolatrous practices peculiar to obnoxious Caste practices.
He listed members of the clergy that will feature in the abrogation ceremony to  include Arch Bishop A.V Obinna, the Metropolitan Catholic Bishop of Owerri, Bishop Chukwuma Opara, Anglican Bishop of Owerri  Bishop Collins Chidi Oparajiaku,  Anglican Bishop of Ohaji/Egbema, Bishop Innocent Erimujor, Healing the Nation Ministry Int, Bishop Ngozi Durueke, He Reigns Cathedral, Bishop Blaise C. Dr. Asinobi said, “A typical proscription of OSU involved a traditional religious ritual where the DIALA community gathered at the village shrine, with the Chief Priest of the land presiding over the ritual. The OSU was tied, as the Chief Priest pronounced over his head, such curses that were supposed to come upon the land. A sacrifice was made on the community altar. And the OSU was dedicated to the deity that ruled over the shrine.
“It was believed that the Osu would bear any evil burden that was supposed to come upon the land and the people; whether sickness, disease, or death. By virtue of the ritual, the OSU was regarded as one that was cursed, abominable, and untouchable. Hence he was ostracized.
“The UME was believed to have been cursed to die prematurely by the gods. Over the generations, it has been established however that the people tagged UME were simply individuals with a history of sickle cell in their family background.
“The OHU was of the slave class made up mostly of people used as collateral for debts and individuals sold by their kinsmen.  A lot of the OHU were captured in battles, whereas some were drawn from the OSU class.”

Kenyatta Betrayed Kanu-IPOB

We support our kith and kin - Niger Delta Avengers" - Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) | BellaNaija
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB,says  President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya should be held responsible for the re-arrest of Mazi  Nnamdi Kanu.
Emma Powerful spokesman of the group disclosed this in a statement
The release reads in part : “We the global movement of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) ably led by our great and indomitable leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, express our disappointment with President Uhuru Kenyetta of Kenya and his Government over his role in the abduction of our Leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and his subsequent smuggling into Nigeria by the wicked Nigeria security agents.
We are still at shock why a President like Uhuru Kenyetta would stoop so low to collude with a terror-friendly Government like Nigeria under
President Muhamnadu Buhari to abduct and dehumanise our Leader for doing nothing other than demanding the freedom of Biafrans from the Nigeria bondage”.
“Based on our preliminary findings, President Uhuru Kenyetta was very instrumental to the abduction of our Leader in Kenya. The treacherous action of Uhuru kenyatta against Nnamdi Kanu and Biafrans at large is a clear violation of the 1949  Geneva Convention, and United Nations Code.
We still don’t understand why Uhuru kenyatta and some corrupt officials of his Government would prefer to betray Nnamdi Kanu and Biafrans? Is it because of Nigeria oil money? Is it because of the
paltry N100 million bounty placed on Kanu’s head by some Northern charlatans?  Why will President Uhuru Kenyetta sell our leader Mazi Nnamdi to the evil hands of Nigerian government?
“It is so shameful that Uhuru kenyatta would belittle himself in a manner he has just done. By this wickedness and grievous sin, Uhuru kenyatta has demonstrated his affection for the murderous Fulani terrorists  ravaging the entire Nigeria
killing and maming indigenous people in their ancestral lands.
Uhuru kenyatta and his partners in crime should get ready to meet us at the International Criminal Court, ICC. This act of terror against our Leader, Nnamdi Kanu, a NATO citizen, British citizen with British
International Passport and member of other international organizations will not go unpunished.”
“As we continue with our investigations into this crime with a view to unmasking all the collaborators, we announce the following interim actions until further notice:
We call on all Biafrans both home and in the diaspora to boycott travels with Kenya Air Lines; to immediately stop patronising any product made in Kenya; and to boycott any business dealings with
Kenyans. We cannot be relating friendly with anyone collaborating with our oppressors to keep us in perpetual slavery”!
“We also want to urge all Biafrans and members of the public to disregard all the concocted rubbish the wicked Nigeria Government and their agents
have been peddling about how and where our leader was arrested. He was never arrested but abuducted. All these cock and bull story is to
twist facts and blackmail our selfless leader who they have seen as the major obstacle against their agenda to completely Islamise and Fulani Nigeria. Nobody should believe these lies. They are only intended to demarket our Leader and puncture his global reputation and teeming followership.
“The global family of IPOB reaffirm our unalloyed loyalty, belief and confidence in our leader Nnamdi Kanu. Biafrans are united behind him in his current ordeals in the hands of our oppressors. We also wish to remind the Nigeria Government that nothing should happen to our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu”, he concluded
