
Governor David Umahi has directed that the Executive Chairmen of Ezza North local government Areas, Dr Nora Aloh; and her counterpart of Ebonyi LGA, Mrs Chinyere Nwogbaga; be issued queries, over the attacks on the INEC offices in their council headquarters.
He further directed that
the State Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Rural Development and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on State and Local Government Affairs, should also be issued queries, over the attacks.
The State Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Barrister Uchenna Orji, who disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the State Executive Council Meeting,said the queries were for them to explain why disciplinary actions should not be taken against them.
Orji said the Council frowned at the affected government functionaries for failing to do anything to avert the attacks and further directed the security agencies to fish out the perpetrators of the attacks.
Hoodlums had Tuesday night razed down the offices of INEC in Ezza North and Ebonyi local government areas of the state.
“Exco also did deliberate on the attack on INEC facilities in Ezza North and Ebonyi local government areas. So, report was taken and it was noted that the INEC offices in Ezza North and Ebonyi local government areas were attack by bandits.
“Exco did frown at the development and urged the security agencies to immediately wade in to fish out perpetrators. Exco did frown at the government functionaries that would have helped in nipping the issue in the bud; the Chairman of Ezza North, Chairman of Ebonyi local government, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters and Rural Development and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on State and Local Government Affairs.
“Exco therefore directed that they be given query to explain why disciplinary actions will not be taking against them by government for failing in their duties to take some proactive actions that would have nipped the situation in the bud.
“Exco did warn that every office holder must rise to his/her responsibilities, show diligence, show passion, failing which disciplinary actions will also face such person”, Orji said.
The Commissioner who announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, said the Principle secretary to the Governor, Chief Clement Nweke was made Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development while Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Queendaline Agwu would replace Nweke.
