Man Kills 65-Year-Old Woman For  Stealing N3000

        Mohammed Shosanya
Friday Akinmade,a 20-year -old man, has been arrested for allegedly killing a 65-year-old woman for stealing his N3000.
The Corps Commander of Ondo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed this on Tuesday while parading 27 crime suspects at the headquarters of the formation at Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital.
He said that investigation revealed that the suspect, who was arrested by Amotekun, hit the deceased with a stick in Owo, Owo local government areas of the state, claiming that she stole his N3000 savings.
According to him,the suspect in his confessional statement said he hit the deceased with a stick on the head twice when he challenged her, but she ran away from the scene.
Friday claimed he didn’t know that he hit the deceased enough to kill her.
The 27 suspects were paraded for different crimes including kidnapping, stealing, burglary among others.
Akogun Adetunji Adeleye said: “Akinmade Friday outright murdered and killed a 65-year-old woman. This is a 20-year-old boy.”
Speaking further on other suspects,he disclosed that “We have a 42-year-old man who attacked Amotekun officers in a bid to cover his nefarious activity by the name Gbenro. We equally have Samuel Peter, a 21-year-old man, who engaged in an attempted murder.
“The uniqueness of today’s parade is that apart from very little cases, about two or three kidnapping cases at the borders, that is the Akunu-Kogi-Ondo border, where we had two cases of kidnapping and in Ose border-Edo-Ondo border, where we had one case in the last two weeks, we could say that the entire 18 local governments are at peace.
“Generally speaking, I want to place it on record that Ondo State is peaceful and community-friendly, investment-friendly, and farmers are encouraged to go to the farm as the Amotekun Rangers are already in the farms across the state, especially in the government forest reserves to ensure that there are no infringements.
“Apart from this, what the security situation has enumerated tells us that as a result of the harsh economic situation we have in the country, there are more cases of House-breaking.
“A 30-year-old man who engaged in malicious damage, cultism and attempted murder of law enforcement agents.
“In the same way, we narrowed down on one Segun Owolabi, 20 years old, who engages in stealing motorcycles and robbing dispossessed rightful owners.
“We have a gang that specializes in burgling houses, especially when owners of such houses are not in their houses. We have Toba, Pelumi, Ogumade and Oriade, whose age bracket ranges between 22 and 25.
We equally have Shegwo Yusuf, who engages in malicious damage to household properties.
“A cross-section of this showed that more than before, the state is getting more peaceful. I want to assure the residents of Ondo State that the Ondo State Security Network Agency will continue to engage criminals, both within the town and in the forest, towards ensuring that people can sleep with their two eyes closed in their houses, farmers can go to their farms and commuters can travel without fear, especially as the yuletide period is approaching.”

“This is one trial we want to see happen. We are talking about a human life. Police men generally have that responsibility to protect lives, but if, for whatsoever reason, any police officer misuses his firearm, the liability is on the person. That’s is exactly what has happened today. You could see the Enugu State Government and the police command in the state have done everything possible to ensure that justice prevails in this case,’ Ndukwe stated.

“The Governor, in his magnanimity has awarded scholarships to the children to university level. Secondly, the state is going to take care of the welfare of Mrs Igbo-Jah going forward.
“This is a calamity to everybody, who loves Enugu State and who is an indigene of Enugu State. The Enugu state government is on top of the matter and they are going to make sure that justice prevails in this matter.
“With me here are the children of the late Igbo-Jah, and the governor has promised them that he is not only going to take care of them from now till university, but  also promised to take care of their welfare,” she stated.
