Abiodun Launches Wifi Enabled Buses, Says Ogere-Remo Forest Safe

Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has launched the State Mass Bus Transit System in order to enhance intra and inter city transportation in Ogun

The official launch of the buses fitted with Wifi and other gadgets, the governor observed is in line with the transport master plan aimed at providing efficient and affordable means of moving people from one location to another.

Speaking at the launch,Abiodun also announced that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) would soon be signed between the state and a private firm for the construction of the Olokola Seaport.

He added noted”It is important to know that the whole essence of the transportation master plan is for us to efficiently move people either intra-state or inter-state. We are the industrial capital of this country and neighbour to the biggest economy which is Lagos State. We see the cross border migration everyday and the trouble our people go through.

“Our transportation master plan has proffered suggestions and solutions for us to deal with this. Today, we are launching these mass transit buses. The pilot phase will start from Abeokuta and we will expand it to other cities”, the governor noted.

He said his administration is also developing a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes in conjunction with the Lagos State government under the Lagos-Ogun Joint Development Cooperation, adding that the State buses would move people from Abeokuta through Mowe, Kara axis to Marina as well as from Ifo and Ado Odo-Ota axis to Lagos and vice versa.

“Very soon, we will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding with a private sector player for the construction of the long awaited Olokola Port. The Olokola Port will soon be a reality. We are also committed to having water transportation by having water taxies.

“This is why we have come up with a multi-modal Transportation Master Plan that we launch today. This transport policy takes into consideration the short, medium and long term approaches to the development of our transport sector. This will include road, rail, water and air transportation plans for the State”, he explained.

He emphasised that the multimodal transportation master plan of his administration stems from the comprehensive and well researched Urban Transport Policy and Strategic Transport Intervention Plan.

Speaking, the Minister of Transportation, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, lauded the state government for operating a purposeful government, saying all the legacy projects carried out by the governor would continue to speak for him after leaving office

The Minister who reiterated the commitment of the government at the center in improving on transportation system across the country, informed that the construction of Lagos -Calabar rail line that would pass through Lekki Deep Seaport down to Epe township, would soon commence.

He emphasized that the government has continued to implement the rail line master plan project initiated by President Olusegun Obasanjo regime.

Former governor of the state and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), noted that Abeokuta has always been a commercial centre, adding that with the launch of the mass transit buses, the present administration has succeeded in restoring the past glory of the state in terms of transportation.

He declared that he would continue to support the Abiodun-led administration in its efforts at meeting the needs of the people.

In his remarks,the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, commended the state government for providing modern system of transportation, saying the scheme would go a long way at alleviating the suffering of the people from moving from one place to another.

Meanwhile,Ogun state government has dismissed the video being circulated on some social media platforms that bandits have taken over Ogere-Remo forest in the state

The video was said to have been recorded by drones, and which is 2 minutes 50 seconds, showed some men cooking on a fire in a bush.

However,in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Ogun State governor, Kunle Somorin, described the video as fake

He said the video was another ploy by enemies of progress to create a wrong impression that the state is unsafe.

He added that the video, was that of the General Service Unit(GSU) drone which captured armed cattle rustlers hiding in thicket with stolen livestock on April 4 in Kenya, East Africa.

According to him,the bandits who were seen making breakfast tried to shoot down the drone when they noticed it was recording them.

He wondered how some persons whose preoccupation is spreading fake news and raise false alarm, imploring the people to see the video as another weak attempt to smear the good records of Governor Abiodun-led administration.

Somorin noted that Ogun, under the leadership of Governor Dapo Abiodun, has not only been adjudged as the safest state to live in, but most serene to conduct businesses without fear.

The governor’s CPS further said Abiodun-led administration has also attracted more investors to the state via infrastructure, security and business-friendly policies, which according to him has made Ogun highest in the country in terms of Foreign Direct Investment.

He added that to ensure that Ogun remains safest to live, work and play, the governor, on assumption of office, quickly reinvigorated the State Security Trust Fund by making it private sector driven.

He said that apart from purchasing patrol vehicles fitted with communication gadgets for security agencies, the governor relaunched OP-MESA, to enhance the security architecture of the state.

Cult War: Abiodun Orders Relocation Of Security Agencies To Sagamu

Ogun State, Governor Dapo Abiodun has ordered the relocation of security agencies to Sagamu following the killing of 15 people by cultists in the area.

Governor Abiodun’s Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin,conveyed the directive in a statement.

He said the governor directed the State Commissioner of Police, the Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade (of the Nigerian Army) and the Director, State Security Service (DSS) to relocate their operations to Sagamu.”

He explained that the job of the security agencies is to arrest hose involved in the recent cult activities in Sagamu, where eight persons were murdered on Monday morning.

He added that the governor had directed the security agencies to intensify efforts towards apprehending those who were behind cult killings in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Abiodun, who condemned the cult activities, instructed that no stone should be left unturned by the security agencies in their efforts to bring the culprits to book.

Confirming that the cult clashes left some people dead and others injured, the governor urged all peace-loving residents of Sagamu and Abeokuta to cooperate with the security agents in their efforts to rid the towns and environs of cultists and other criminal elements.

He implored the youths to shun all acts that could jeopardise their future and bring shame to their parents, saying his “administration has invested heavily in programmes and activities designed to equip our youths with the necessary skills and education that could make their future better.”

Abiodun warned youths not to endanger their future by getting involved in crime, telling parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards stay away from criminality.

“We have zero tolerance for any act that could disturb the peace we have been enjoying in Ogun State since the commencement of this Administration. We will deal decisively with anyone intent on disturbing that peace,” the statement added.
