An unidentified man has reportedly called the Kano State Police Command to inquire whether his name appeared on a confidential list of suspected drug dealers compiled through public tip-offs.

The Command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, disclosed thisin a post shared on his official Facebook page.

Expressing surprise at the incident, Kiyawa wrote: “What boldness! Someone called me on the phone asking whether his name was among the drug dealers being reported.”

The spokesperson, however, did not confirm whether the caller’s name was actually on the list or if he is currently under investigation for alleged involvement in drug trafficking.

The incident comes amid an ongoing crackdown on illicit drug activities in Kano State, where police have adopted a community-driven intelligence approach to identify suspected traffickers and dealers.

Kiyawa had earlier urged residents to confidentially submit the names of individuals suspected of selling or distributing illicit substances within their neighborhoods.

According to him, the initiative is aimed at curbing drug abuse, trafficking, and related crimes across the state.

Police authorities said the strategy has already yielded results, leading to the arrest of several suspects in different parts of Kano.
