Hon. Monsuru Olayemi,Executive Chairman of Itesiwaju Local Government, Oyo State,has charged residents to be vigilant against banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats in the state.
Olayemi gave the charge at the
2025 edition of the Oke Amu Community Day held at the Oke Amu Community Hall in Oke Ogun ,also
warning against drug abuse among youths and implored parents to take more active role in shaping the moral direction of their children.
He further promised to support the rehabilitation and modernization of the Oke Amu Community Hall.
Olayemi,who was honoured at the event for the reconstruction of classroom blocks at the Oke Amu Council Primary School, assured that the Council would, within the next one year, link the Iseyin–Oke Amu road and grade the Alaganran link road.
He advocated the need for the community to honour past contributors, the Oke Amu Community Development Committee announced plans to set up a special committee to recognise both living and late elders who have made outstanding contributions to the community’s progress ahead of the 2026 celebration.
The Olugunwa of Oke Amu land, HRM Oba Kasali Oyeniyi Omotoso (Fadeyi I), in his remark commended all sons and daughters of Oke Amu for their support and commitment to the town’s development, urging them to sustain the momentum of unity and progress.
In his comment delivered by the Chief Salau Adekola, Ikolaba of Oke Amu, the monarch commended the Oke Amu Prestige Elite Club for their generous support during the construction of the police post through donations of blocks, cement, sand, water, and money.
Speaking, Hon. Akinleye Emmanuel, Chairman of the Oke Amu Day Celebration Committee, on his part expressed heartfelt gratitude to all indigenes, for their overwhelming support and generosity toward the success of this year’s fundraising programme
“I am sincerely amazed that our people could donate so generously without any element of coercion or force.
“This truly reflects the spirit of patriotism and evidence that the long-lost love for our fatherland has returned,” he said.
Akinleye urged all sons and daughters of Oke Amu to remain steadfast and continue contributing to the development of the community.
One of the major highlights of this year’s celebration was the official confirmation of the completion of the Oke Amu Police Post, a vital security project initiated in 2022.
It also witnessed the formal appointment of Elder Bolaji Shitu. as the new Chairman of the Oke Amu Community Development Committee (Home and Abroad).
His appointment was endorsed by both the National and Local Executive Committees, who expressed confidence in his leadership and dedication to the community’s growth.
Elder Bolaji Shitu pledged to unite all Oke Amu indigenes across Nigeria and in the diaspora to advance the town’s development.
He emphasized the need for cooperation and consistent contribution to community projects that would uplift Oke Amu.
Moderated by Mr. Bello Jimoh, the event featured cultural performances and community reflections.
Bello further confirmed the community’s resolve to encourage parents to re-enroll their children in public schools within Oke Amu, including the council’s Primary School, to strengthen local education and communal identity
He announced that preparations were underway for an elaborate 2026 edition, which would feature new development projects and expanded participation from Oke Amu indigenes in the diaspora.
