Muhammed Babangida, son of former military Head of State Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has accepted his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture, as announced by the federal government.

Conveying the acceptance in a statement on Monday,Babangida appreciated President Tinubu for the trust and confidence bestowed upon him.

He dismissed earlier claims that he rejected his appointment as Chairman of the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Babangida described the reports making rounds on social media as “false and malicious,” adding that the claims were aimed at misleading the public and tarnishing the image of the current administration.

He further warned that those behind the misinformation would be identified and held accountable.

“We also want to assure the public that those spreading these falsehoods will be thoroughly investigated and brought to justice. We remain committed to transparency, accountability, and fostering unity within our nation,” it added.

He urged Nigerians to verify information from credible sources and not fall prey to unverified reports.

Babangida’s appointment was announced on Friday in a statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy. He was among several individuals named to head strategic Government institutions in a bid by the Tinubu administration to enhance leadership and performance in public agencies.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a Master’s degree in Public Relations and Business Communication from the European University in Montreux, Switzerland. He also completed an executive program in corporate governance at Harvard Business School in 2002.
