Alleged Defamation: Ogun Police Sue JustAdetoun, Arrest Her Doctor

The Ogun State Police Command,on Monday, launched a manhunt to apprehend a popular social media blogger, Adetoun Onajobi, also known as @justadetoun, following her alleged defamation of governor of Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun.

The Police has also filed a cyberbullying-related charges against her at the Federal High Court, Abeokuta Division.

According to the Police, a six-count charge has been preferred against Onajobi for alleged offences bordering on cyberbullying, publication of false information, and obstruction of justice, contrary to provisions of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act.

In a press statement issued on Monday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the Command stated that the suspect has refused to honour police invitation extended to her.

The Police revealed that Onajobi was invited for questioning on 2 January 2026 to respond to allegations arising from her online activities. 

But, she failed to honour the invitation but instead, her lawyer wrote to the Command, claiming that she was medically indisposed and attached a medical report purportedly issued by a licensed medical doctor.

DSP Babaseyi also noted that the Command is trailing other suspects connected to the alleged dissemination of false information and vowed that all lawful means would be deployed to apprehend and produce Adetoun before the court to answer the charges already filed against her.

The PPRO further revealed that a subsequent discreet investigations by the Police exposed the medical report as false and misleading.

The police said the Doctor who authored the report was arrested and reportedly confessed that the document was fabricated at the instruction of Adetoun Onajobi during a phone conversation facilitated by her lawyer.

Sequel to the confession, the doctor was arraigned before an Ogun State Magistrates’ Court on charges of conspiracy, uttering a false document, and obstructing the course of justice

JustAdetoun, in recent times, according to the statement, used social media and other internet-enabled platforms to publish false accusations against the Ogun State Government and allegedly harass the Governor of the state.

The Police further disclosed that Adetoun Onajobi has since remained evasive, repeatedly ignoring police invitations, and that her current whereabouts are unknown.

“The Ogun State Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to tackle all forms of crime, violent, white-collar, and digital, while respecting the constitutional rights of all persons.” 

The statement added further that while freedom of expression is constitutionally guaranteed, it does not extend to criminal conduct.
