Architect Okara Celebrates 60th Birthday In Grandstyle

Thursday May 02 this year,has been set aside to honour one of Nigeria grassroots political icon, Architect Abdulmumeen Ahmed Okara who turns sixty years old that day.

A grassroots politician and member of the ruling political party from Kogi State, Arc. Okara is a founding member of the All Progressive Congress, APC, and served in Contact and Mobilization Committee of the Independent Campaign Council for the current President, Sen. Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

He has served under late Chief Solomon Lar, former governor of Plateau state, Chief Bisi Akande, founding Chairman of the defunct Action Congress, AC and several other political icons across the country.

A statement signed by Mohammed Bougei Attah,Chairman, Planning Committee,quoted that among the activities lined up to mark the epoch-making event include the launch of a Biography on his times and life as a political icon and strong supporter of the late Senator AT Ahmed, formal public presentation of a foundation dedicated to his late father, Ahmed Okara Foundation and a special dinner to celebrate his. 60 years on the earth.

Already,eminent personalities across the country have been invited to this event taking place in Abuja. They include Presidency, current and former governors, Legislators, both national and state levels as well as associates and community leaders of thought.

NNPC Ltd, Partner Commence Oil Production In Madu Field

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) and its Joint Venture partner in OML 85, First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company Limited (First E&P), have commenced oil production from the asset also known as Madu Field.

Production from the field which is located in shallow waters offshore Bayelsa State and operated by First E&P is expected to be at an average of 20,000 barrels per day, Olufemi O. Soneye,Chief Corporate Communications Officer,NNPC Ltd, said in a statement.

The statement quoted that the achievement is a testament to the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu administration to optimise production from the nation’s oil and gas assets through the provision of enabling environment for existing and prospective investors.

Speaking on the development, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd, Mr. Mele Kyari, described the commencement of oil production at the Madu Field as a significant milestone that will contribute to the larger goal of meeting the production required to drive revenue growth and boost the nation’s economy.

Kyari,who commended stakeholders for their support, also explained that the addition of 20,000 barrels per day by an indigenous oil player signals the commitment of stakeholders to achieving economic development for Nigeria.

The Final Investment Decision (FID) on the development of the Madu Field and a sister field, Anyala, was taken by the NNPC Ltd/First E&P JV in 2018.

Production from the Madu Field will be processed at the JV’s Abigail-Joseph Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Unit, which has a crude oil storage capacity of up to 800,000bbls.

Chevron Nigeria Limited Not Hiring-Official

Chevron Nigeria Limited, operator of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (“NNPCL”) and CNL Joint Venture,has decried circulation of false recruitment information in some media and online channels in the name of CNL and Chevron Corporation, purportedly advertising job positions in CNL.

The fraudulent job offers have reportedly been sent through emails, text messages and phone calls by individuals purporting to be staff or representatives of CNL and Chevron Corporation,General Manager, Policy, Government & Public Affairs,E. O. Brikinn,said in a statement.

He notified the general public that CNL does not solicit job applications or initiate recruitment processes through emails,posters,handbills, text messages, social media, or phone calls.

He added:”Job seekers are advised to always check the company’s website at:http:/www.careers.chevron.com, and the national newspapers for job advertisements from CNL.

“CNL does not and will not require applicants to make any payment towards processing any job application. Job offers requesting candidates to pay money, at any point during the recruitment process, are not from CNL. CNL advises that anyone who receives these fraudulent communications should report them to the appropriate law enforcement agencies.

“CNL hereby dissociates itself from all false job adverts and offers published in any online media platform, web site, email, poster, handbill or any other medium.CNL will not respond to enquiries about fraudulent advertisements and job offers”.

NNPC Boss,Mele Kyari Wins Energy Times’ GCEO Of The Year Award

Group Chief Executive Officer, NNPC Ltd, Mr. Mele Kyari has won the Energy Times’ GCEO of the Year Award in recognition of his commitment to accountability, transparency, and performance excellence.

Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Company, Mr. Olufemi Soneye received the award on behalf of the NNPC boss, in a ceremony held at the Eko Hotel & Suites in Lagos on Friday.

According to the Governing Council of Energy Times Award Committee,Kyari’s hardwork has played a significant role in the company’s success and has contributed significantly to the growth of the energy sector in Nigeria.

Kyari said the NNPC Ltd, which has been on transition since the passage of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) has been championing the push to transform Nigeria into a gas-powered nation in keeping with its enormous natural endowment with over 209 trillion cubic feet proven natural gas reserves.

Globacom Promises To Equip OYRTMA With Modern Traffic Technologies

Globacom has promised to equip the Oyo State Road Traffic Management Authority, (OYRTMA)

with modern digital facilities to enhance its smooth operations in the state.

The Chairman,OYRTMA,Major Adesagba Adekoya (rtd.),disclosed this after receiving the management team of Globacom, in his office at Agodi Secretariat, Ibadan on Friday,a statement said.

He affirmed that the intervention is the best thing to happen to the state, adding that the new equipment would aid the smooth operation of the agency and make it more effective.

He remarked that using modern technologies against traffic offenders would ease the agency’s operation and apprehension of traffic offenders which would increase the state’s internally generated revenue by the agency.

He reiterated the commitment of the present administration to work assiduously both day and night to ensure hitch-free road traffic in the state.

The South-West Zonal Director of Globacom, Mr. Adeniyi Odejobi assured OYRTMA of the organization’s support with modern technology as its corporate social responsibility,

He commended OYRTMA for its relentless efforts at maintaining road traffic orderliness and its day-to-day campaign in the state.

The OYRTMA during the day also embarked on a special operation enforcement led by its Chairman where about thirty- seven traffic offenders were apprehended with duly fine.

NERC Approves 12 More Band A Feeders For Kaduna Electric

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC),has approved 12 additional Band A feeders for Kaduna Electric. By this approval, customers on the newly approved feeders shall enjoy a minimum of 20 hours power supply.

One 11kV feeder and 12 33kV feeders were approved. Kaduna Electric’s Band A feeder count has now risen from 25 to 37,a statement said.

Since April 1st, all Band A feeders across Kaduna Electric’s franchise in Kaduna, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kebbi have been enjoying a minimum of 20 hours power supply daily.

In an Order issued April 19, 2024, NERC said:”the Commission has reviewed and considered KAEDC’s request for additional feeders to be classified as Band A. Accordingly, the Commission hereby approves additional One (1) Nos of 11kV and Eleven (11) Nos of 33kV feeders provided in schedules 1 and 2 below to have met the minimum service requirements and be reclassified as Band A Feeders”.

The new approved Band A feeders include; 11kV Commercial feeder in Kaduna, 33KV Fadama 1 and Fadama 2 feeders in Birnin Kebbi. Other approved 33kV feeders in Kaduna are; 33KV Abakpa, 33KV NAF, 33KV Doka and 33KV Water Works which all radiate from Mando transmission station. 33KV Mogadishu located at Power Station in Kaduna was also approved.

Also approved for upgrading to Band A include 33KV Aviation and 33KV PZ feeders in Zaria, 33KV Narayi in Kaduna and 33KV Power House in Gusau.

Kaduna Electric’s Chief Operating Officer, Sadiq Mohammed,said the approval is a welcome development and a testimony to the company’s full compliance with delivering the minimum hours of supply to its Band A feeders.

According to him,the development will spur Kaduna Electric to put in more efforts to ensure that customers on the new feeders enjoy power supply with minimal interruption.
