LASTMA Threatens To Arrest Filmmakers Over Illegal Use Of Uniforms

Mohammed Shosanya

The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has declared as illegal the use of its uniforms, kits and other equipment by film and skit makers.

The General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Bolaji Oreagba, lamented the ignoble manner in which movie and skit makers portray the agency in their movies and skits.

According to him, filmmakers use LASTMA uniforms without recourse to the Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015 which criminalized such unauthorized usage.

Adebayo Taofiq, Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA,quoted Oreagba in a press statement,as saying this after seeing a fully kitted actress with LASMA uniform in one of the Yoruba films titled ‘Gbogbo Lowo’ and other skits movies on different social media.

He said, film or skit makers who pose as LASTMA Officers without applying for, and being duly issued a permit letter for such portrayals, should desist with immediate effect or face the full wrath of the Law.

He also said that such sanity in movies production, regulation of possession and usage of the agency’s uniform will curb proliferation of LASTMA kits, uniforms and accoutrements in the society.

“We implore National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA) and other affliated bodies to warn their members as anyone caught using LASTMA uniform without an approved permit would be prosecuted,”the LASTMA boss added.
