President Muhammadu Buhari has been urged to review the operations of of private investors in the power sector for improved power generation and supply.
The Executive Director, Networks in Niger Delta Holding Company(NNDHV), Ife Oyedele made the call while delivering a lecture at the 15th edition of the DEEEAL organized by the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (NIMEE).
Oyedele, an engineer, in his paperentitled: “Electrification Of Nigeria Is A Sine Qua Non To Building A Great, Industrialised And Safe Nation,” advocated the need for the appointment of core professionals to run various government agencies that were saddled with execution of projects in the power sector.
According to him, the power sector could only experience a turnaround through holistic reforms that would bring about local production of quality electricity equipment as obtainable in advanced nations.
He said: “We cannot continue to do things the way we have been doing it. We must look for a new ways to do things.Core professionals should be appointed to head all agencies that are in charge of projects in this sector for us to get good results.
“Let’s say unequivocally, it is imperative for us to review the operations of all private investors with sole aim of getting optimum performance.”
