Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr.Ogbonnaya Onu, has said Nigeria has all it takes to be a world power in scientific innovations.
Onu,who disclosed this  in Abuja when he received the Cuban Ambassador to Nigeria, Clara Polido Escandell, in his office,implored the organised private sector  to invest more in science, technology and innovation(STI).
He pledged that Nigeria and the Republic of Cuba would strengthen cooperation and relations in the area of biotechnology development.
He said the relationship between both countries would include research in vaccine production, medicine production and development of biotechnology.
He commended the resilience of Cuba and the giant strides made by the country in the area of COVID-19 vaccines.
According to him,the Cuban researchers and innovators have been able to produce medicine to manage diseases such as Meningitis which affects tropical African Continent.
Onu, who described the relationship between both nations as “warm and strong”, further assured the Cuban diplomat that Nigeria would stand on the principle of justice and would continue to be a dependable ally.
Earlier in her remarks, the Cuban Ambassador, Clara Pulido Escandell, said her country is achieving remarkable strides and development in the production of COVID-19 vaccines, especially considering its safety for children’s use and people with allergies.
She said her country was willing to provide expertise and assistance to Nigeria in the development of STI.
