One year Anniversary: As Governor Inuwa Yahaya walks the talk By Ismaila  Uba Misilli
Gombe State commissioner for Health, Dr. Habu Dahiru has  described the initiative that set up the state’s Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (GOHealth) as remarkable.
He spoke at  the first stakeholders workshop jointly organised by the Development Governance International (DGI) and the state Ministry of Health, Dahiru,where he  assured stakeholders of Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s commitment to universal health coverage for all in the state.
He  advised the team to brainstorm and review with the consultants to develop  a working paper for the scheme state’s endorsement.
On the journey so far, the Team Lead/Executive Secretary of GOHealth, Dr. Abubakar Musa, appreciated Governor Yahaya for signing the bill enabling the agency in December 2019.
He recalled that the governor also constituted a five-man technical working group to midwife the process to which DGI were instrumental to the design of the State Contributory Scheme.
He said:”This design has catapulted the state’s agency ahead of so many other states that started long before her. So far, over 25,000 vulnerable have begun enjoying the scheme and enrolment to the formal sector program.Over 20,000 principal beneficiaries will be enrolled in the following month while that of their dependants will be done consequently,” he stated.
Dr. Musa,who explained  that the essence of the five-day workshop was to review the operational guidelines to be validated and approved by the board,urged participants to be fully engaged, appreciating DGI for their efforts.
 GoHealth,he said,was incomplete without DGI’s support, calling them families.
