Armed Robbers Attack Bank Customer In Ibadan

Suspected armed robbers on Monday dispossessed an unidentified bank depositor of a huge sum of money in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adewale Osifeso, who conveyed this in a statement, disclosed that the incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. along Secretariat Road, Agodi, Ibadan.

The victim, who was driving a metallic grey Nissan Primera with registration number EPE 901 PS, was reportedly trailed by the suspects before being forced to surrender an undisclosed amount of cash.

According to the statement, police operatives on patrol engaged the suspects shortly after the robbery, leading to a confrontation during which one police officer sustained severe injuries. The injured officer is said to be receiving treatment at a secured medical facility.

“Fortunately, there were no fatalities. The injured officer is responding to treatment,” Osifeso noted.

The police spokesperson assured residents that an extensive investigation has been launched to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

He urged members of the public to provide credible information that could aid the arrest of the suspects.
