The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples’ Movement (APM) in Oyo State, Hon. Bimbo Adekanmbi, has accused Senator Sharafadeen Alli of recycling Governor Seyi Makinde’s policies while branding his government a failure.

In a statement on Wednesday by his campaign council, Adekanmbi said the APC’s Oyo AHEAD manifesto offers nothing new and merely repackages programmes already being implemented by the current administration.

The statement, signed by Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju, Co-Director of Media and Publicity of the Oyo State APM Campaign Council (OYSACC), was a response to Alli’s campaign organisation (SSACO) over its defence of the manifesto.

According to him, the APC’s claim that Oyo is a failed state collapses in the face of independent rankings that recently named the state Nigeria’s most liveable and best-performing democracy.

“You cannot tell people they live in a failed state when Oyo has been ranked Nigeria’s most liveable state. The rankings were based on infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and economic opportunity — not press statements,” he said.

He maintained the contradiction is even more glaring in the Oyo AHEAD document itself.

He said SSACO condemns Makinde’s healthcare record, yet the manifesto lists a Primary Healthcare Centre in every ward as a headline promise — a policy already being executed under Makinde’s one-PHC-per-ward initiative.

He stated that the same pattern runs through the rest of the manifesto — better schools, roads, agriculture and workers’ welfare — which are priorities the Makinde government is already pursuing.

Olanrewaju claimed SSACO’s response failed to name a single signature reform that distinguishes Alli’s candidacy.

“If Oyo under Makinde is already leading in liveability and governance, and your flagship proposals mirror his policies, what exactly is the change you are offering? That question remains unanswered,” he said.

He said Oyo voters would sustain good governance by electing Adekanmbi in 2027.

“For all its talk of rescue and redemption, SSACO has not shown one transformative idea capable of moving Oyo beyond its current trajectory,” he added.
