The Nigerian fashion industry is entering a new era of refinement and global recognition, Founder and Creative Director of Mo’Afrique, Omobolanle Olawole, has said.
She spoke at a press conference in Lagos, where she also said Consumers are increasingly valuing quality, authenticity, and storytelling on account of the development.
She said gormal and luxury wear from Nigeria will continue to gain international visibility as designers embrace innovation while staying rooted in cultural identity.
She expressed optimism that the company’s brand- Modish Formals will play a key role in shaping the fresh narrative.
She tasked emerging fashion entrepreneurs in Nigeria on clarity of vision, identity, and purpose, adding that growth becomes inconsistent and unsustainable when they lack the virtues.
She also advised that they should prioritize quality over speed.
She said: “The temptation to scale quickly is understandable, but true brand equity is built on consistency and trust, which take time to develop.”
She further tasked the entrepreneurs to remain authentic, saying:”In a highly competitive and evolving industry, authenticity is your strongest differentiator. When your work reflects who you truly are, it resonates more deeply and endures far longer.
She spoke on the company’s factory in Abuja, stressing that itrepresents a major milestone in our journey toward industrializing fashion production in Nigeria.
The facility, she said, is designed with scale, efficiency, quality in mind, and equipped with modern machinery and supported by a highly trained workforce.
It enables the company to also meet increasing demand while maintaining the precision that defines our brand, she also said.
She added:”Beyond production, the factory is also a statement of intent. It reflects our commitment to building local capacity, reducing dependence on imports, and contributing meaningfully to the development of Nigeria’s manufacturing ecosystem.”
