Kano Govt Begins Prosecution Of Suspects Who Killed Woman, Six Children

  The Kano State Government, says its Office of the Attorney General has formally taken over the prosecution of the Dorayi massacre.

The ancient city was thrown into confusion on Saturday sequel  to  the gruesome killing of a housewife and her six children by three principal suspects now in police custody. 

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN, told newsmen on Monday, that take over of the prosecution was based on the directive of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

He emphasized that the gravity of the incident demands decisive legal action and a transparent judicial process to restore public confidence, with a view to ensuring that justice is not only done, but clearly seen to be done.

He described the incident at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters as a tragic and senseless act that has left the entire state in mourning.

According to him, the murder of the woman and her children constitutes a heinous and inhuman crime that offends both humanity and the rule of law. 

He noted that the timely intervention of the police led to the arrest of suspects linked to the killings, describing their efforts as critical to the ongoing pursuit of justice.

 He further assured residents of Kano that no effort would be spared in ensuring accountability, transparency, and strict adherence to due process throughout the investigation and prosecution.

 The government, he said, is committed to allowing the law to take its full course without interference.
