The Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) insists on the enforcement of the ban on night-time travel along Lagos inland waterways.

It warned residents and visitors against any form of water transportation after sunset.

It specifically cautioned fun seekers and fans of Fuji musician, Alhaji Sule Alao Malaika, who are planning to attend a concert at Ilashe Beach, to comply strictly with the restriction on night travel.

It emphasized that all commercial and private boat operations are permitted only during daylight hours, noting that the ban remains a critical safety measure aimed at preventing accidents caused by poor visibility and other navigational hazards associated with night-time travel.

It urged members of the public to plan their trips properly, arrive at their destinations early, and avoid attempting to travel on waterways after sunset.

It reminded boat operators to adhere strictly to approved operating hours, comply with all safety regulations, and ensure that passengers wear life jackets at all times.

It is working in collaboration with the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), as well as safety and security agencies, to intensify patrols across the waterways.

Defaulters,it warned, would be apprehended and prosecuted in accordance with the law.

It reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safe, efficient, and well-regulated water transportation for residents and visitors across the state, stressing that safety on the waterways remains a shared responsibility.
