A mother, Mrs. Adebori Oladunni, has pthe Commissioner of Police, Ondo State Police Command, Bolaji Salami, to help her unravel the alleged mysterious death of her six-year-old daughter, Esther, who was in the custody of her ex-husband.
The mother, who divorced her former husband, Mr. Raphael Ajijolaoluwa, in 2020, but the court granted the father the custody of their three children, alleged that her daughter, who her ex-husband claimed that died earlier in the month, must have been killed and used for ritual purposes.
In a petition addressed to the state Police Commissioner through her attorney, Mr. Mufutau A. Adegboye, Mrs. Adebori in a stated that her daughter in sound health when she saw her in her school and could figure out what could have suddenly happened to her without being notified by her ex-husband.
The petition reads in parts: “Sometimes in 2019, our client approached customary court for dissolution of their eleven years old association due to belligerent behaviours and atrocities exhibited and committed by Mr Ajijolaoluwa Raphael.
“The court ordered among other that the custody of the three children should be with  Ajijolaoluwa Raphael while our client should be permitted to visit her except at night.
“But surprisingly in deviating to the order of the court, Mr Ajijolaoluwa Raphael did not give our client access to her children despite the fact that both of them are living in the same town.
“Surprisingly as Friday 6th August, 2021, information got to our client that the last born of our client Esther Ajijolaoluwa was dead on Tuesday, 3rd of August and was buried without the knowledge of our client. Our client reported the matter at Ore Divisional Police Station. It was when Mr Ajijolaoluwa Raphael reported at the station that he confirmed to our client that truly Ajijolaoluwa Esther had died and since been buried without the knowledge of our client.”
The wailing mother charged the Police Commissioner to order the body of her daughter exhumed, if she’s truly dead or still kept in waiting for ritual purpose, because she’s suspicious of the circumstances surrounding her death.
The Police Public Relations Officer(PPRO) for the state Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami, assured the Police would do a thorough investigation of the matter and surely get to the root.
She  said: “Although, I will confirm from the appropriate department where the petition you are talking about has been submitted. But once it is submitted, I can assure you that we will get to the root of the matter.”
