Some Muslim residents in Badagry, Lagos State, have commended the Pioneer of Real Acts of Kindness (RAK) Foundation, Alhaji Abubakre Ogunlende, for providing free daily iftar for over 500 faithful since the beginning of Ramadan.
The beneficiaries,in a separate interview in Badagry Central Mosque, commended the consistency and quality of the food being served by the foundation.
Mrs Khadijat Akande, a Muslim residing in Vrekete, Badagry, said RAK Foundation had over the years saved many Muslims from starvation during Ramadan.
“We are grateful to Alatileyin Adinni of Badagry Central Mosque for coming to our aid this year again.Frankly speaking, if not for this daily feeding, many families will find it difficult to perform their Islamic obligation due to the present economic hardship people are going through in this country.
“We are all gathered here at the Badagry Central Mosque to collect daily ration to break our fast, while some take extra for the night in preparation for next day fasting. Our prayer is that Allah will continue to bless RAK Foundation pioneer and replenish his pocket abundantly,” she said.
Also speaking, Alfa Abdul-Ramon Ajape commended the organisation over the quality of food being provided for breaking of fast.
“On the first day of Ramadan, RAK Foundation brought hot Amala and delicious ewedu soup with goat meat to break our fast. The second day, it was fried rice and cow meat that the foundation brought for us to break fast.
“In fact, because of the quality of food being served daily, some of my friends who are Christian are now coming to join the congregation during 7p.m. prayer in order to have their own share of the free iftar. The food is nourishing and more people are coming to mosque to get it.
“God will continue to bless Ogunlende, we are grateful to him for feeding us during this Ramadan,” he said.
A member of the Badagry Muslim community, Mr Suleiman Alao, also commended RAK Foundation for conducting the daily distribution of food among the elders, youths and others in a dignified manner.
According to him, RAK Pioneer is God sent to the people of Badagry and others should emulate this gesture by assisting more Muslims during the fasting period.
He prayed that Allah would take the pioneer of RAK to greater heights.
RAK Foundation had last week promised to feed over 500 Muslims in Badagry daily during the month of Ramadan.
Ogunlende said that the free iftar is in accordance with Quranic injunction of giving Sadakat (alms giving) to the poor.
