Police Begin Probe Into Murder Of Woman, Six Children In Kano

The Police in Kano have launched an investigation into the gruesome murder of a woman and her six children following a violent attack in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of the state on Saturday afternoon. 

This was conveyed in a statement by CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa that was made available to newsmen.

Police received a distress call at about 12:10 p.m. on Saturday, January 17, 2025, reporting a brutal assault on the residence of Haruna Bashir in the area.

CSP Kiyawa identified the victims as Fatima Abubakar, aged 35, and her six children, who were attacked by unknown hoodlums that forcefully gained access to their home.

The command disclosed that the assailants used dangerous weapons on the victims, inflicting severe injuries that proved fatal.

Kiyawa disclosed that “The victims were attacked with dangerous weapons and sustained fatal injuries”.

He added:”Upon receiving the report, the Commissioner of Police in Kano State, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, PhD, immediately deployed a team of officers to the scene, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Lawal Isah Mani.”

He stated that the bodies were evacuated from the scene and taken to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, Kano, where doctors confirmed that all seven victims were dead.

He said that CP Bakori has directed the Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, ACP Wada Jarma, to lead a comprehensive investigation into the killings to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.
