Niger To Generate More Energy From Gurara Waterfalls

Governor Mohammed Umar Bago of Niger state,says he intends to generate more electricity from Gurara Waterfalls to boost the state’s power supply.

Bago,who disclosed this during his working visit to Gawu Babangida, headquarters of Gurara Local Government area,described the waterfalls  as one of the blessings from God to the state. 

Niger state currently plays host to Nigeria’s three main electricity generating dams; Jebba, Kainji and Shiroro.

When fully established, Governor Bago said that Gurrara will become one of the electricity generating Local Government Areas in Nigeria with accruing benefits.

According to him,the Gurrara waterfall and the government is one of the priority area being considered for the next phase of development because of its natural potential, adding that the administration will ensure the the Council attains its full potentials of becoming one of the state’s tourist destinations.

Among the projects to be executed in the next phase of urban development is the 5 km township roads paryicularly the 5 km road in Izom road to connect Izom and Gwagwalada in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and the proposed Gurara games resort.

Others projects the state government intends to embark upon taking advantage of the state’s proximity to FCT, Abuja is the N120 million worth modern trailers park, provision of potable water through partnership and a green energy park under a tripartite arrangement with development partners among others.
