The Kano State Hisbah Board on Monday detained a TikToker popularly known as Namadina Tudunwada over allegations that he promoted premarital sex in a viral video.
The board said operatives from its Tudunwada command took the suspect into custody after reviewing the video. In the clip, he allegedly described illicit sexual relationships as a less expensive alternative to marriage.
Deputy Commander-General of the board, Dr. Mujahid Aminuddeen, said the content was capable of encouraging immoral conduct and could negatively influence young people.
He added that the action was in line with the board’s mandate to protect public morals and values in the state.
He also said investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the publication and other related materials before deciding on the next legal steps.
He said the suspect would be charged to court if the findings support the allegations against him.
Dr. Mujahid also cautioned social media influencers and other digital content creators to exercise greater responsibility in their online activities,
He warned that posts capable of eroding public morality or misleading young audiences could attract legal consequences.
He emphasised the board’s commitment to monitoring digital platforms for content deemed contrary to the moral and religious values upheld in Kano State, urging users to be mindful of the messages they disseminate online.
