Lagos Continental Hotel Unveils Academy, Raises Bar For Hospitality

Lagos Continental Hotel has unveiled its academy, a world-class training facility designed to equip staff and industry talent with skills that set global standards.

The academy was inaugurated on Tuesday, at the hotel’s Kofo Abayomi Street location in Victoria Island, Lagos, in a ceremony attended by industry stakeholders and staff .

Unveiling the facility, Christoph Schleissing, General Manager of Lagos Continental Hotel, explained that the investment reflects the hotel’s commitment to service excellence and people development.

He said: “Lagos Continental Academy is our way of investing in people first,” Schleissing said. “This facility will train and equip our team and the wider Continental Group with the knowledge, discipline, and practical skills needed to deliver world-class hospitality every single day.”

He described the multi-storey academy as more than a training center — a platform for talent development, career growth, and community impact.

He noted that the initiative aligns with the hotel’s philosophy of giving back to the community it serves while preparing young Nigerians for meaningful careers in a sector that continues to grow rapidly.

He added: ” The 100-bed facility provides a safe, modern environment for immersive learning. Through partnerships with relevant government agencies and top-rated training instructors, participants will gain hands-on experience aligned with international hospitality standards.”

According to him, staff of Lagos Continental Hotel are set to benefit from the programmes, ensuring consistency and excellence across every guest touchpoint.

He also praised 11plc Chairman Ramesh Kansagra for his vision and support, noting that the parent company’s investment in the academy shows a deep commitment to employees and to raising Nigeria’s service standards. 22 Hospitality Ltd, a subsidiary of 11plc, owns Lagos Continental Hotel.

The event ended with Schleissing formally handing over the academy to Team Leader ,Assistant Manager , Williams Umeh marking the start of operations.
