Police in Anambra have arrested a domestic worker accused of killing his employer, a Pentecostal bishop, and attempting to sell the victim’s Toyota Prado in Nkpor.
The suspect, who worked as the bishop’s driver and aide, was apprehended alongside another man alleged to be the buyer of the stolen vehicle. The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation by the Rapid Response Squad, Awkuzu.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police Ikioye Orutugu said the victim was the bishop of End-Reconciliation Ministry, Asaba, Delta State.
Preliminary investigations show the driver allegedly conspired with other suspects, now at large, to murder the cleric before fleeing with the Toyota Prado to Anambra.
Operatives tracked the suspects to Nkpor in Idemili North LGA and intercepted them. The stolen Prado was recovered, and both men are in custody for further interrogation.
Police said efforts are ongoing to arrest other members of the gang and establish the full circumstances of the murder.
Reacting, CP Orutugu urged residents to exercise caution when hiring domestic workers, drivers, and household staff. He advised proper verification and profiling of employees and called for vigilance over suspicious movements.
The commissioner reassured residents of the command’s commitment to proactive, intelligence-driven policing and collaboration with other security agencies.
The statement was issued by Police Public Relations Officer SP Tochukwu Ikenga.
