Labour Party Sets N50m Presidential Form, Grants Waivers To Women, Youths

The Labour Party has pegged its presidential nomination form at N50 million and released the timetable for its 2026 primaries ahead of the 2027 elections.

National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa said Sunday that female aspirants, persons with disabilities, and youths aged 25–30 will pay only for expression of interest forms.

The party will also give Abia Governor Alex Otti a free governorship form, the National Working Committee said.

Aspiring candidates not yet registered have until midnight Monday, May 4, 2026, to complete the ongoing e-registration. 

The party will submit its membership register to INEC afterward, in line with the Electoral Act.

Sale of forms runs May 6–16, 2026. Submission closes May 18. Screening for House of Assembly and governorship holds May 20; National Assembly and presidential May 22. Results drop May 23. Appeals run May 24–25. Final list out May 26.  

Primaries for House of Assembly and governorship hold May 27; National Assembly and presidential May 29.

Fees: 

– State Assembly: N1m expression + N2m nomination = N3m  

– House of Reps: N1.5m + N3.5m = N5m 

– Senate: N2.5m + N7.5m = N10m 

– Governorship: N5m + N20m = N25m  

– Presidential*: N10m + N40m = N50m
