CGC Warns Smugglers

The Comptroller General of the Nigerian Customs Service ( NCS ), Dr. Bashir Adewale Adeniyi has expressed disgust  over the incessant activities of smugglers who are in the habit of destroying the Nigerian economy.

He spoke while commending the  Nigeria Customs Service, Adamawa/Taraba Area Command, over the interception of several shipments of contraband goods, including 10 bales and 2 sacks of second-hand clothing and approximately 50,495 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS).

Represented by Comptroller Mohammed Aminu Tako, Adebiyi said  that the seizures were made in various locations, including Mubi-Sahuda, Daware-Fufore, Fufore-Gurin, Wuro Bokki, and Ndaforo-Abong axis of Taraba state.

He said that the Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seized goods is estimated at N58,117,550. 

He warned smugglers and their collaborators to desist from illegal activities, stating that the Service has intensified intelligence-led operations across all routes and border communities.

He emphasized that anyone found engaging in smuggling or aiding and abetting such acts will face the full weight of the law without compromise. 

He said that the Service also acknowledged the collaboration of sister security agencies and commended the officers of the Command for their professionalism and dedication to duty.

He reiterated the Service’s commitment to safeguarding national economic interest and ensuring compliance with extant laws.

He assured that the Service will continue to work tirelessly to prevent smuggling and other illicit activities, and will collaborate with other agencies to ensure national security and economic prosperity.

He added:”The public is assured of the Service’s dedication to its mandate, and is encouraged to report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities.”
