Lagos, the commercial nerve centre of Nigeria will experience black out for 25 days on account of repair of facilities which is part of a large scale national effort to boost power transmission infrastructure in the country.
Announcing this in different statements,Ikeja Electric and Eko Electricity Distribution Company,disclosed that the outage would start on July 28 and run until August 21, 2025.
There will be blackouts between 8am and 5pm daily,Ikeja Disco said, adding that the exercise is to enable the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, to carry out work on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330 kV line.
It said:“Please be informed that Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will carry out scheduled maintenance on the Omotosho-Ikeja West 330kV transmission line from Monday, July 28 to Thursday, August 21, 2005, between the hours of 8:00 am and 5:00 pm daily.
“During this period, customers may experience intermittent power supply and load shedding across our network due to the planned TCN outage.”
Echoing similar reason for the blackout, Eko Electricity Distribution Company,said the affected transmission line is crucial for the evacuation and distribution of electricity within Lagos and its environs.
It said:“This planned outage by our partner, Transmission Company of Nigeria, will impact supply across our entire coverage area. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and appeal to all our valued customers to kindly bear with us.”
The power firm advised residents and businesses to plan accordingly, and consider alternative power sources to make up for the hitch.
