
General Bashir Magashi rtd, the Minister of Defence, General Bashir Magashi rtd,has expressed discontent over thev killing of an officer and eleven other soldiers in Benue state, saying the development would not deter the military from waging war against invaders.
The Minister of Defense,who made the statement when he led the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff and other top military officers on a courtesy visit on Governor Ortom at Government House, Makurdi on Thursday,insisted that “barbarism and anything that tries to make Nigeria ungovernable would not be accepted.”
He noted that part of their visit to the state was to restore the confidence of troops in the state, adding that for the morale of the soldiers to be fully restored, perpetrators of the dastard act must be apprehended and made to face the wrath of the law.
Governor Samuel Ortom,who sympathised with President Buhari and the Armed Forces over the barbaric act said he has had sleepless nights since the unfortunate incident.
He pledged his administration’s support and cooperation with security agencies to ensure those responsible for the act were apprehended and brought to justice.
