
Jelani Aliyu, the Director General of the National Automotives Design and Development Corporation, (NADDC), Jelani Aliyu, has revealed that the vision and mission of the Corporation is to produce the most advanced car in Nigeria which would be one hundred percent solar powered.
Jelani Aliyu, who revealed this at the commissioning ceremony of the first electric car charging station at Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, stated that the car would have zero emission to complement the federal government commitment for safer environment.
He said the charging station is an important component of the project and it is fully powered by solar energy, adding that as Nigeria is blessed with sun light, the problem of power would become a thing of the past.

He explained that it was the beginning of a new era of technology in Nigeria and for students, it was a study centre for reshaping their knowledge.
He commended the University for the donation of land and hoped more research into the project would come along.
The same type of project was replicated at the University of Lagos and University of Nigeria, Nsuka.
The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University (Administration), Professor Ibrahim Magawata described the ocassion as historic and good landmark for which he urged students of the University to take as a challenge in making more contribution to the project.

Professor Magawata explained that UDUS is out to make energy a cheap commodity in Nigeria and that is why “Very soon we will start using our 2 mega watts light powered by solar.
He assured that the University will give its maximum cooperation to the project and thanked NADDC for choosing UDUS to be the first beneficiary of the project.
Also speaking, the former Director General of the National Energy Commission of Nigeria, Professor Sani Sambo explained that the demand for oil is falling by the day and advised the federal government to find alternative source of energy.
