The Ikorodu Local Government Council Chairman, Mr. Wasiu Adesina, says the council would collaborate with Community Development Committee(CDC) and Community Development Association(CDA) to enhance development and curb insecurity.
He disclosed this during the launch of annual congress of the Lagos State Community Development Advisory Council with theme ‘Community Policing Panacea for Safe Environment’ on Friday in Ikorodu, Lagos.
He said: “Community development as we all know is the first government of any Nation where people of different geo-political zone live as one big family and take decisions.Let me assure the good people of Lagos State, that Ikorodu under my administration will continue to partner with the CDA and CDC by handing over our projects for proper monitoring.
“As one of you, i want us to look into some areas of importance in our community where we need to help ourselves to curb crimes, violence and insecurity.We look inwards to uplift the CDC’s and has however handover the collection of Radio and Television reciept to them”.
He added that the present economic reality in the country has made people to find a lasting solution to the social and economic problems of their communities through CDA’s.
He commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his vision in creating expansions and construction of project works for continuous growth and development in our society with his THEME agenda in the state.
Mr Adewale Babatunde, Special Adviser to Lagos state governor on community affairs, urged residents of the state to embrace community policing to curtail the menace of insecurity.
He said that government is doing its best to ensure that the state is free of crime and criminality.
He acknowledged that Ikorodu was presumed to have crops of cult groups with many of them having the believe that the community can serve a hiding place to them due to its vulnerability.
“Lagos as a metropolitan state can not be left out in having pockets of Insecurity and government is trying it’s best to bring it to the nearest minimum,” he said.
Mr Hamzat Azeez, Chairman Lagos State Advisory Council, said the mandate of the Congress was to review what has happened in the past and factor out solution on how to move forward in curbing crime.
Azeez said security challenges were so rampant in our country and the entire world and urged people to imbibe in idea of disseminating information to security agencies to facilitate their job.

In his remarks,Pastor Taiwo, chairman, Community Forum and a guest lecturer, said that major problem of Insecurity in the country is improper parental guide among families, especially the youths adding that good virtues and morals should be inculcated in every homes to reduce their engagement in crime and social vices.
