The Adamawa State Pension Board has commenced a comprehensive verification exercise for pensioners across the state.
The initiative is designed to update and authenticate pensioners’ records, thereby addressing discrepancies and facilitating more efficient service delivery.
At the flag-off of the exercise, the Executive Chairman of the Board, Mr. Ibrahim V. Abba, commended the unwavering support of His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
He described the governor’s commitment to the welfare of retirees as a “giant stride” toward resolving the longstanding challenges pensioners have faced in the state.
He urged all pensioners to remain calm, patient, and cooperative with officials throughout the verification process. He stressed that the exercise is not intended to witch-hunt anyone but is a routine and essential procedure to ensure that only eligible pensioners receive their rightful benefits.
“This verification is a routine but vital process. It is not designed to witch-hunt anyone, but to protect the integrity of the pension system and guarantee that entitlements are paid accurately and promptly,” Mr. Abba stated.
He further assured pensioners that every necessary arrangement has been made to ensure the process is seamless, transparent, and stress-free. Special provisions, including designated centers and trained personnel, have been put in place to cater to the needs of elderly and vulnerable participants.
The Pension Board reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining open communication throughout the exercise and encouraged pensioners to report any difficulties encountered during the verification to designated help desks.
The exercise is expected to significantly strengthen the state’s pension administration, instill greater public confidence in the system, and uphold the administration’s broader agenda of accountability and good governance.
