Edo state government has arrested two traditional rulers and five others in connection with the recent kidnap of 20 train passengers at Igueben station who were waiting to board from Igueben to Warri in Delta State.
The State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Osa Nehikhare, who disclosed this on Wednesday in Benin City,also announced the rescue of the two remaining victims from the kidnappers den.
Nehikhare did not disclose the names of the two traditional rulers.
He stated that with the rescue of the last two kidnap victims from their abductors, the dust raised by the Igueben train station has finally been laid to rest.
According to him,seven arrested suspects are currently undergoing investigation at the state police command headquarters.
Governor Godwin Obaseki had blamed the Federal Government for not providing adequate security at the train station in spite of the Abuja- Kaduna train incident during which scores of passengers were kidnapped and spent months in captivity before they were set free by their captors.
He also blamed the tradition rulers in the locality for not being vigilant enough.
