Bandits have invaded Gwada community in Shiroro Local Government Area while muslim faithful were breaking their fifteenth Ramadan fast, killing a police officer and three civilians.
The invaders were said to have entered Gwada village through a bush path linking the area and Kadna village .
They abducted a number of persons, including women and their children,witnesses said.
The armed men started shooting sporadically into the air to scare away possible intruders as they headed to the homes of their victims and took them along with them,according to witnesses.
The Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), Niger state command, Wasiu A Abiodun, confirmed the attack in a statement.
He added: “The police responded immediately by drafting combined force of police tactical team and other security agencies with vigilante were mobilized to the area and repelled the hoodlums”.
