Suspected kidnappers abducted three people and shot a woman during an attack on Ipojo Golden Estate in Oke-Eri, Ijebu Ode, on Monday evening.
Residents confirmed that over 15 armed men stormed the estate around 7 p.m., firing shots and causing panic. The gunmen forced their way into a residence, ransacked the building, and took away two women and a man before fleeing into a nearby forest.
A woman was shot during the escape.Eyewitnesses said most of the attackers appeared to be of Fulani extraction and operated without masks.
The head of the affected family was away on official duty at the time. The assailants also tried to break into another house but failed.
A community leader described the attack as “disturbing and unprecedented,” and implored the state government and security agencies to step up efforts to rescue the victims.
Head of the Badewa Family, Yesiru Badewa, said one of the abducted women was ill and expressed concern that her condition could worsen in captivity.
Police visited the scene shortly after the incident. As of Tuesday, family members said the kidnappers had neither made contact nor demanded ransom.
Ogun Police PRO DSP Boluwatife Babaseyi confirmed the attack and said tactical and intelligence operations were underway to rescue the victims and arrest the suspects.
