The African Democratic Congress (ADC) will go ahead with its national convention scheduled for Tuesday, April 14, 2026, amidst threat by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike to stop the event.

The party will not bow to creeping tyranny and petty tyrant, its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi said.

The party had earlier claimed that it was denied Eagle Square by the Minister when it applied for the venue to hold its convention.

In his X-handle, Abdullahi said that the owner of the venue where the convention is scheduled to hold today is being threatened by the Minister and FCDA not to allow the party to carry out its function at the venue.

According to him, the Minister and FCDA have threatened to revoke the licence of Rainbow Event centre, if the owner allows ADC to use the facilities after payment has been made.

He added:”After paying all the fees required, setting up for our convention tomorrow (today),  the owner of Rainbow Event centre has just informed us that he has come under pressure from the FCDA and Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike that if he allows the ADC the use of his facilities, his licence will be revoked.

“But we have already signed the contract with him. We will hold our convention tomorrow (today) as planned at the Rainbow event centre. We will not bow to this creeping tyranny. And definitely not to this petty tyrant. ADC is rising,  Nigeria is rising.”
