The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has said that solving Nigeria’s problem needs thinking outside the box, which is the responsibility of all well-meaning citizens.
He expressed the readiness of the 10th House to partner with non-governmental and civil society organizations on better ways to solve socio-economic problems in Nigeria.
Speaking on Thursday when he received a delegation from the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) led by Tayo Aduloju, chief operating officer, Abbas said all hands must be on deck to fix Nigeria’s challenges.
He said the 10th Assembly would associate with any organization that is working towards addressing the challenges facing the country.
“We need to put on our thinking caps and think outside the box to be able to proffer solutions to the numerous challenges facing the country. We are looking forward to more ideas and more initiatives,” Abbas stated.
According to him, the 10th House would come up with a robust Legislative Agenda that would guide its activities in the next four years, calling on all stakeholders to key into it.
Earlier, Aduloju recalled that the NESG did a legislative gap assessment of “what was stopping Nigeria’s economy from growing” and it identified 115 ‘NASSBER bills’ in both the Senate and the House that “make a difference,” 15 of which bothered on transportation, with Abbas being Chairman of the 9th House’ Committee on Land Transport.
The National Assembly Business Environment Roundtable (NASSBER) is an initiative of the NESG and the Nigeria Bar Association’s Section on Business Law.
