The Professional E-hailing Drivers and Private Owners Association (FEDPA) on Thursday urged Police to ensure that justice was done on the recent alleged murder of its member by his rider.
The Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command arrested three male suspects who conspired to gruesomely murder a 27-year old Uber driver, Morenikeji Stephen Oluwaniyi and made away with his Toyota Corolla saloon car.
President of the Association, Mr Idris Shonuga, implored police and security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation on the recent case of Dr Stephen Morenikeji, the driver that was allegedly murdered in cold blood at Abule Egba by his rider.
According to him,the association would go to any length to secure justice for the family of the murdered victim and prayed God to give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“We have taken to the Media to compel the government and various agencies to ensure justice is done,” he said.
He said that the association has made it imperative to build an enabling environment for both drivers and traders who patronise E-hailing transport service in the country.
He added that the association has also commenced profiling of all their members to enhance security among them and called on the federal government to regulate the E-hailing business as well.
He expressed displeasure with the spirit of dishonest activities of App companies such as their refusal to profile customers who patronised Uber service.
“There is no appropriate means of identification to identify the customers in case of any eventualities. This loophole got some criminal minded people motivated to request our service with the aim of robbing us of valuable items and even snatches our car at gun point.
“They get away with the crime due to porousness of Uber Bolt platforms,” he said.
