Infected Mother Can’t Transmit  COVID-19 Through Breadfeeding-UNICEF

UNICEF advocates protection, education for children – THE AUTHORITY NEWS
United Nations Children Education Fund, (UNICEF), disclosed that mother with COVID-19 can’t transmit the diseases to her Child  through breastfeeding.
The agency revealed this in its new findings,adding that the development would not injure the baby.
The UNICEF, Nutrition Team, led by  Oyedokun,disclosed  this in a lead paper  he presented  at 2021 World Breastfeeding week in Kano.
He added:”Breastfeeding during COVID-19, active virus has not been detected in any breastmilk of a Mother, which simply means child can be breastfeed even if she is actively infected.What a mother needs is taking precautionary measures by wearing of clinical mask, using gloves and cleaning of exposed parts of the body”.
Speaking,the UNICEF Field Officer in Kano, Mr. Micheal Banda,  advised communities who are ravaged by insecurity to set up volunteers breastfeeding groups for abandoned children to reduces incidents of child mortality and malnutrition in 0 – 5 months.
According to him,children who  exposed to exclusive breastfeeding within one hour of his birth has strong intelligence quotient  ,  adding that they are generally immune from child related ailments.
