
A group ,Active Nigerian Farmers and Rearers Association (ANFRA) has expressed intent to collaborate with the Bauchi state government to address incidences of farmers and herders clashes in the state.
Comrade Umar Samaila ,the National Organizing Secretary of the association,stated this on Tuesday during a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Abdulrazak Nuhu Zaki at his residence.
Describing clashes between farmers and herders as worrisome as it has led to the destruction of lives and properties in some parts of the country, the scribe said that with the support and collaboration of the state government, such clashes would be a thing of the past.
“We are here to bestow honour on the commissioner for uniting the people of Bauchi state and ensuring peaceful coexistence between farmers and Herders. We also commend him for projects that we have seen in the state, which shows that the state is making progress”
“This association comprises of farmers and members of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders association of Nigeria.Our membership cut across different ethnic and religious affiliations.The main objective of the association is to foster peaceful coexistence between residents of state irrespective of political, ethnic and religious differences” he said
Commending the present administration in the state for uniting the different ethnic and religious groups, Comrade Umar stated that the peaceful atmosphere in the state has paved way for the government to carry out developmental projects across the state.
Responding, the Commissioner commended members of the association for honouring him, assuring that the gesture will enable him to do more for the unity of the state.
