The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has directed pastors and ministers of the church to remain politically neutral.
Speaking on Saturday night at the Ministers’ Conference ahead of the church’s 2026 Annual Convention, Adeboye said church pulpits must never be turned into campaign platforms for politicians.
According to him, while the RCCG remains open to members of all political parties, politicians who visit should only be received warmly and prayed for.
He said: “You must not turn our pulpit into a campaign venue,” he said. “The Redeemed Christian Church of God remains open to all political parties, and any politician who comes to us must be treated warmly and be prayed for.”
He cautioned ministers against using their positions to influence the political choices of members.
He emphasised that it is not the responsibility of pastors to tell their congregations who to vote for.
He said: “If they come, we welcome them, but don’t turn our pulpit into a campaign venue. It is not your duty as a pastor to tell your congregation who to vote for. Our own is that they should vote according to their own persuasion.”
The cleric reminded ministers that political power ultimately belongs to God, urging them to remain focused on their spiritual mandate rather than partisan interests.
