FG: Jimoh Ibrahim’s UN Budget Chair Win Shows Nigeria’s Rising Global Influence

The Federal Government has congratulated Ambassador Jimoh Ibrahim on his election as Chairman of the UN Budget and Administration Committee.

The government said his appointment reflects Nigeria’s growing influence in the global multilateral system and its capacity to shape decisions on UN finance and administration.

In a statement on Thursday, Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, commended Ibrahim’s election, noting the development underscores the confidence of the international community in Nigeria’s capacity to contribute meaningfully to the administration and governance of global institutions.

The appointment represents a recognition of Nigeria’s longstanding commitment to multilateralism, international cooperation, and active participation in global governance frameworks, the statement quoted.

According to the statement, the Federal Government welcomed the development and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting reforms that promote efficiency, transparency, accountability, and effectiveness within the United Nations system.

The Minister expressed confidence that Ambassador Ibrahim would bring his experience and record of public service to bear in his new role, while wishing him a successful tenure as Chairman of the Committee.
