Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, rescued Mr. and Mrs. Sanusi Kehinde from kidnappers in an overnight operation after the couple was abducted from their home in Ilu-Abo, Akure North Local Government Area.
Mr. Kehinde recounted that armed men lying in wait pounced on him and his wife at about 6:30 p.m. when they got to their residence in Ilu-Abo, then dragged them into the bush.
He said: “We got home at Ilu-Abo and unknown to us, the kidnappers had already been waiting for us. As I was trying to come out of the vehicle, they attacked and abducted us.
“Our experience in the hands of the gunmen was traumatic and pathetic. They machetes us and we were beaten. We sustained injuries during the attack.”
Narrating how they were freed by operatives of Amotekun, Mr. Kehinde said his wife was rescued shortly after they were abducted due to the rapid response of the operatives.
“The way Amotekun acted was amazing. In less than 10 minutes, they rescued my wife. The commander himself was in the bush during the operation.
“They treated me at the Amotekun clinic free of charge and even served me tea and biscuits. I appreciate the Corps Commander, his men, and the Ondo State Government for supporting them,” the rescued victim said.
Narrating her ordeal, Mrs. Kehinde disclosed that the armed men who abducted them were four in number.
She said: “When we arrived at home in Ilu-Abo, the kidnappers came out from different directions and surrounded our vehicle, pointing a double-barrel gun at me before collected our money.
“They collected my money and beat me with wood while forcing us through the bush.”
Mrs. Kehinde said while they were being marched through the forest, they sighted local hunters and Amotekun operatives close to a road, and she immediately raised the alarm.
She said: “When we sighted hunters and Amotekun operatives, I shouted for help and that was when they rescued me and took me to the palace where I was treated at a health centre.
“I kept crying because I had not seen my husband, but the commander assured me that he would also be rescued.”
She disclosed that she kept vigil praying for safe rescue of her husband.
In the morning, she received the news that her husband had also been rescued safely.
