The Anambra State Government has recovered 10 oil wells belonging to the state which were earlier given to Delta State.

The Managing Director of Anambra State Solid Mineral Development Company and chairman of Anambra State Petroleum Energy Resources Limited, Professor Charles Ofoegbu, disclosed this in Awka.

According to him, when approval is given to the report of a verification exercise conducted by the Revenue Mobilisation Commission on the oil wells, Anambra State will begin to receive additional revenue from the oil wells located on the Anambra maritime boundary with Delta State.

He also disclosed that the state government collaborating with foreign investors to put in place a modular refinery in Osamala, in Ogbaru Local Government community in Area that will produce petroleum and diesel to serve Anambra State and its neighbouring states, which will generate huge revenue for the state.

The state government, he also said, is working tirelessly to recover a substantial number of Anambra oil wells currently being claimed by Imo, Delta, Rivers and Enugu States due to boundary issues, which will in turn increase the state’s thirteen percent oil derivation from the Federal Government.

He disclosed that currently his agency is opening up a mining site at Ukpor in Nnewi South Local Government Area for the processing of kaolin, which will also earn the state huge revenue.

Besides, the state government is working towards establishing a processing plant for bentonite at Achalagu, Nteje, while the raw materials are found in Umuchu and Ufuma, noting that bentonite, which is used in the oil industry, will also earn the state additional revenue.

He noted that the revenue Anambra State earns from the oil sector has contributed immensely to the spectacular performance of Governor Chukwuma Soludo in all sectors.
