Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been sentenced to life imprisonment by Justice James Omotosho of Abuja Federal High Court.

He was first arrested in 2015, but fled Nigeria while on bail in 2017, because of the military invasion of his home in Abia state.

In 2021, he was rearrested in Kenya and forcefully returned back to Nigeria, an action he insisted, violated international laws and treaties.

Today’s verdict was the climax of his 7-count trial before Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court, over allegations of terrorism and treason.
