Kaduna Electric has dthat six persons lost their lives in the l electrical accident that occured in Zaria last week. Condoling the families of the deceased,the power firm said it has taken measures to avert a recurence of the incident.
The company’s Head of Corporate Communication, Abdulazeez Abdullahi in a statement in Kaduna on Tuesday, said in the cause of its investigations,its officials visited Gwargwaje community and met with families of the affected persons on three occasions since the incident to mourn with them and gather relevant information on the incident.
According to the statement, from the direct interaction with victims and community leaders, the fatalities recorded involved only six persons. It said all the deceased persons lived on Kagoro Close, Gwargwaje except ASP Lumba who resided in the Police Barracks.
It said it had not received any information of more fatalities since its last visit to the community on Saturday. The statement said it has also gathered detailed information on all those who sustained injuries or lost properties.
It added that it has been liaising with relevant security authorities and the traditional institution in Zaria to discuss next steps. The power firm said releasing the fatality figure has become necessary in view of the need to correct the erroneous information being peddled by a section of the media.
