Save UCH From Total Darkness, MURIC Begs Adelabu

The Oyo State Chapter of Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC),has appealed to Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, to ensure stable and uninterrupted electricity supply to the University College Hospital,Ibadan.

Its General Secretary, Mallam Ibrahim Agunbiade, conveyed the appeal against the backdrop of persistent erratic electricity supply to the institution.

According to him, the prolonged power instability alongside water shortage has severely affected the smooth functioning of the hospital, adding that engagements with the hospital management reportedly ended without tangible resolution.

The hospital’s unions under the umbrella of the Council of UCH Union Leaders (CUUL),  have declared a 5-day local warning strike commencing Monday, 2nd March, 2026, to press home their demands for restoration of stable electricity and regular water supply, he quoted in the letter made available to Premium News on Friday.

He added:” The University College Hospital,Ibadan is a foremost tertiary health institution serving Oyo State and beyond. Any disruption in its services poses serious risks to patients and the general public. We therefore humbly appeal for your immediate intervention to ensure stable and uninterrupted electricity supply to the hospital.”
