NEMSA: Tahir Completes Tenure, Hands Over To Ashibel

Former Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA),has handed over the baton to the agency’s Executive Director, Corporate Services, Utsu P. Ashibel.

Ashibel will act in the role pending a substantive appointment by the Federal Government.

Tahir’s act was sequel to the completion of his statutory tenure  on December 31, 2025, Mrs. Ama Umoren, Head of Communications and Protocol, confirmed in a statement on Monday.

The statement quoted that during his leadership, Engr. Tahir, drove significant advancements in institutional strengthening, regulatory enforcement, and operational efficiency. 

It said key achievements included enhanced inspection, testing, and certification processes, automation of service delivery, and stronger collaborations with electricity sector stakeholders, boosting confidence in NEMSA’s role in ensuring safety, quality, and compliance across the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

It reassured stakeholders of NEMSA’s ongoing reliability in the power sector, stressing that the hand over process adhered strictly to guidelines mandating handover to the next senior officer for continuity and stability in public service.

The agency emphasized that operations remain uninterrupted, with full commitment to regulatory oversight, inspections, certifications, and safety functions. 

It commended Engr. Tahir for his dedicated service and pledged to sustain the reforms achieved during his tenure.
