The Defence Ministry has mobilized its security operatives to free six of its Directors who were seized by kidnappers on Monday, the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN)has said.

The Directors who are members of the union working at Command Day Secondary School (CDSS), Ojo, Lagos were travelling from Lagos to Abuja when they were kidnapped.

Its National President, Comrade Shehu Mohammed, and the Secretary-General, Comrade Joshua Apebo, who disclosed this in a statement, said that the Directors were kidnapped at Kaba-Lokoja road on their way to Abuja for Promotion Examinations for the Directorate level in the Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs)

According to the statement, those kidnapped are Mrs. Ngozi Ibeziakor, Mrs. Emeribe C.A, Mrs. Helen Ezeakor C., Mrs. Ladoye C.A, Mrs. Onwuzurike J.A and Mrs. Essien Catherine O.

It added:“We have always advised the Federal Civil Service Commission to conduct Promotion Examinations in the States instead of subjecting Public Service employees to be travelling long distances from different parts of the country to Abuja for that purpose because of security challenges as well as bad roads that endanger the lives of workers.

“We reiterate our demand that henceforth promotion exams and verification exercises when the need arise should be done in the states to reduce the dangers associated with long distance travels,” the labour leaders emphasized.

The union lauded the Ministry of Defence for swiftly mobilizing its security personnel to move into action to ensure that the Directors are freed.
