The trial of two suspected killers of an Abuja-based Businessman, late Chinedu Eze, was on Tuesday stalled at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Jabi, due to the absence of the defence counsel.
The two suspects, George Eze, 48 years, and Victor Nweze, 19 years were taken to the court, for allegedly killing, late Eze, a popular stationery shop owner in Bwari Area Council, a suburb of the FCT.
They were charged with a six-count charge of culpable homicide, unlawful killing, illegal conversion of a deceased shop, among others, contrary to sections 97, 221, and 310 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
When the matter came up for the continuation of the hearing, the defence counsel to the suspects, and their clients, were absent in the court.
The prosecuting counsel, Barrister Stanley Nwodo, told the court that the matter was stated for the continuation of the hearing and disclosed that the defence team was not present and had not communicated any reason for their absence.
by Justice M.S. Idris adjourned the matter to November 10, for the continuation of the hearing.
